Vitamin A intake is a very effective way of keeping acne under check. This vitamin is also called the "beauty vitamin" due to its multifarious benefits to the skin. It is found in pineapple, mango, strawberries, green leafy vegetables, carrot, tomatoes, milk and milk products, fish and eggs. Although there are vitamin capsules available in the market, eating natural foods rich in this vitamin will help you in a much better way. However, over intake of this vitamin causes too much dryness of the skin and is injurious to the bones,

Vitamins B, C, D and B complex also help in controlling acne. These are found in fresh fruits and vegetables, diary products and poultry. Eating adequate amounts of vitamin rich food is the best you can do to control acne.

Calcium is important not just for strong bones but for a blemish - free complexion as well. Our skin is basically acidic in nature. There is a very delicate balance of acid and alkali in the body. When acidity of the skin reduces, it appears dull and lifeless. Secretion of sebum disturbs the acid-alkali balance of the skin. Calcium is necessary in order to maintain this balance. Therefore consumption of calcium rich food keeps the skin acidic and consequently suppress the hyperactivity of sebaceous glands.

Drinking lots of water is helpful in keeping the skin clear. Increased liquid intake improves blood circulation and thus keeps body clean by flushing off toxins. Fruit juices and soups made out of vegetable stock are good for a clear complexion. Food like yoghurt keep the body cool. Such foods should be preferred.

Make sure that your meal is balanced. Body needs carbohydrates, proteins, minerals and also fats to remain healthy. If you suffer with acne problem, modulate your intake quantity of different kinds of food like increasing vitamins and minerals and reducing fats and sugars, so that your skin remains clear and your body remains healthy.

What not to eat
Too much of carbohydrate and high fat intake food is not advisable for oily skin. Sugars in any form- cakes, biscuit, sweets, chocolates, does no good. Saturated fats should also be avoided.

Foods that heat up the body like too much spices should be taken in limited quantities.  Canned, processed and bottles foods are low in nutrition content. The preservatives, which are used in processing are not good for the body, specially skin. Foods that are rich in oxalic acid content like chocolates and cocoa should be avoided as they retard the absorption of calcium in the body. Controlling salt intake shows pronounced improvement in the clarity of the skin.
Alcohol and smoking should be completely avoided as they increase the toxin content in the body.

Right combinations of food is vital to maintain a clear and acne free skin. With proper diet control, combined with a good workout or fitness regime, you can achieve clear skin. A healthy lifestyle helps keep acne at bay. Enjoy the advantages of oily skin, which ages very slowly, with proper diet intake.
